Year 6 Science

Our Science topic Animals Including Humans takes us on an exciting journey inside the human body—focusing on the amazing circulatory system and how we can keep ourselves healthy and active.

We have learned how the heart works like a pump, sending blood all around the body through arteries and veins. We have discovered how the lungs help us breathe and how oxygen travels through the blood to keep our muscles and organs working properly.

We carried out practical investigations, such as measuring pulse rates before and after exercise and creating exercise videos for children in the younger years to explain why exercise is important for our bodies.  These hands-on activities help bring our learning to life in a fun and memorable way!

It has helped us to understand how our bodies work and encourages us to think about how to make good choices to look after their health now and in the future. It’s a topic full of curiosity, discovery, and brilliant questions—one that helps us feel proud of our bodies and has inspired to take care of them!
