During our autumn term, Reception have been working really hard to complete various activities to support their fine motor skills, letter formation and writing stamina. The children have been taking part in daily ‘dough disco’ sessions to strengthen the muscles in their hands, practicing drawing ‘pre writing shapes’ (which provides children with the skills to form letters correctly) and writing their name. More recently, we have been amazed at the children’s interest, willingness and confidence in using their phonic knowledge to help them spell words independently in the indoor and outdoor environment.
