The Reception children have thoroughly enjoyed drawing still-life images of spring objects, such as flowers and plants. They carefully observed the details in each object, using their fine motor skills to sketch shapes and textures. After drawing, they explored colour mixing and selected appropriate shades to bring their artwork to life with paint. This activity has helped to develop their creativity, observational skills, and confidence in using different artistic techniques.
As part of their learning, the children have been observing the changes that occur over time, from seeds to fully grown plants. They have explored how plants need water, sunlight, and soil to grow, linking their artwork to real-life experiences of planting and caring for seeds. By closely studying the details of flowers and leaves, they have developed a deeper appreciation for nature and the life cycle of plants, reinforcing key scientific concepts in a hands-on and engaging way.
