SEND Support in Maths at Oak Meadow
At Oak Meadow, every child is supported to build strong foundations in maths and achieve their potential. Children with SEND benefit from carefully adapted lessons, using step-by-step teaching, visual aids, and hands-on resources such as counters, Numicon, Base 10 equipment, and fraction strips to make concepts clear and accessible.
Where additional support is needed, targeted interventions - either in small groups or one-to-one - help children strengthen key skills in number, calculation, problem-solving, and reasoning. Lessons include clear explanations and modelling, opportunities to practise and revisit learning, structured support that gradually encourages independence, and build confidence. Children also apply their skills in practical contexts, making maths meaningful and relevant.
This approach ensures children develop strong foundations, confidence, and resilience in maths, enabling them to thrive alongside their peers.
